History

ROL, Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Community Church, evolved from the living rooms of a few Roman Catholic families of the Crestview/Seaview subdivision. A nearly 30 year journey that began as a Mission.

The most Reverend Edward Turner was appointed as ROL'S Shepherd. Through prayer and worship the Mission soon became Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church. A church without a building but with a group of parishioners committed to their faith and the word of God.

In the beginning, services were held once a month under tents pitched on the dirt grounds where our current church now stands. At that time the current building was a distant vision but a determined goal as the surrounding area and number of parishioners at ROL multiplied. Raising money for our church building ranged from Sunday tidings to a first ever mini carnival at the empty dirt lot of the then newly constructed Waipio Gentry Shopping Center.

However, our new parish was in desperate need of a temporary home. Accordingly, over the next 14 years ROL pitched its shingles at the Rosary Convent and a rented warehouse unit in the Waipio Gentry industrial center. Sunday's 7:30 mass began at 7:45 and 9:30 services began between 9:30 and 10:00!! The Lord blessed us with many challenges and surprises during these times, but HIS Warehouse was our beloved temporary home for ten plus years.

There were many issues and challenges in the planning and construction of ROL'S church and it's name resurrection seemed to be truly prophetic when the plans for the construction of the church was finally approved by the Diocese, dirt was turned at the property, and construction actually began!

Unfortunately, Father Ed was no longer our Pastor when the Church was completed, but he attended its inaugural service and will never be forgotten as ROL'S first patriarch. Under the guidance of the most Reverend Ronald Burke ROL grew in faith and numbers. Today, the most Reverend Paul Minchak continues the journey of shepherding all of ROL'S members, into the true resurrection.
