"What's the Buzz, tell me what's a Happening"
Benedictine Monastery Day of
Recollection - February 9, 2008
Rite of Sending/Rite of
Election - February 10, 2008
What is the RCIA?
R.C.I.A. (Rite of
Christian Initiation of Adults) is a process by which individuals,
no matter their background, can embark in becoming one with the
community of faith established by Christ himself when he said to
Simon Peter, “Thou art Peter, and upon this rock, I will build my
church.”
This is a process that prepares adults for the
Sacraments of Initiation or, Baptism-Confirmation and Eucharist
(Holy Communion). The individual would fall under one of the
following three categories:
1. Those who have never been baptized and are
seeking a home in the Catholic church.
2. Those who may have been baptized in other
faiths and now wish to join the Catholic faith community.
3. Those who are baptized Catholics but for
whatever reason or circumstance have not celebrated the other
sacraments of initiation namely, Confirmation and/or Eucharist.
How long does it take?
In the same way one cannot dictate how long it
takes to fall in love when embarking in a relationship, nor do we,
limit the amount of time a soul may need in the process.
The Church makes clear that what is important,
is not meeting a schedule but instead ensuring adequate
preparation. Some may require more, some less, depending on their
spiritual readiness.
When will it start?
Any soul called, will be welcomed with
open arms.
The next introduction to the process will begin
in August, 2008 (exact date to be announced)
We will have registration tables set up after
each mass for a couple of weeks the latter part of June.
You can also
register online by simply emailing us via this
website. Please provide Name, Address, phone number and email. And in
“subject” type in: registering for RCIA
But all are asked to contact the church when
the Holy Spirit moves you to do so!
We will meet with you and walk in faith with
you one on one, until the formal process begins.
