Resurrection of the Lord Church

Neighbors in Need

This web page is a list of items that our Social Ministry at Resurrection of the Lord will collect and distribute to those in need. Some items on the list are for a short term monthly project and others are on an ongoing basis.

We collect at the table on the lanai after all Masses and anytime during the week at the parish office. You can also arrange for us to pick up items of need at your location by emailing: matthew25@clearwire.net or calling 808-382-8655 to make arrangement for pickup. And of course, items needed by particular charitable organizations listed below, can be given directly to those orginazations.

And of course, we can always use cash donations to support our social ministry efforts at Resurrection of the Lord. You can drop cash or checks in our blue coffee collection cans when you see them on the lanai or at the church exits, or in the shoebox that is permanently placed in the narthex. You can put checks, made out to "Resurrection or the Lord" in the collection baskets during Mass with a note in the memo area of the check: "for ROL Social Ministry". The money collected for social ministry use goes towards financing our Lighthouse Homeless Shelter monthly dinner serving, and buying items, like the ones listed below, for those in need.

Thank you for all your efforts and donations on behalf of those in need. May God bless you and may the our Lord, the Living Jesus Christ, be in your life and in your heart.

Women and Children's Residential Program
House of Hope

The following letter was recieved by Father Paul

Dear Reverend Minchak:

A longtime dream is becoming a reality through the grace of God. The attitude of gratitude is alive and well at ROLM. We are excited about the house the mission is buying for the Women's and Children's Residential Program, House of Hope. The house has 9 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. It is a safe house so we are not publicizing the exact location.

We are busy selecting paint colors and making lists of things we need to do prior to moving the women into the house. I have attached a list of things we will need in the new house. We have asked the Lord to move on the hearts of His people to help us remodel and furnish the house. If there is something on the attached list that you or your church would like to help us with, please let us know as soon as possible. We want to avoid duplication of items.

Thank you for your prayers and your support as we expand our outreach to help hurting women and children here in Oahu. May the Lord continue to bless you, your church family and all those you minister to.
God bless

Bob Marchant
Executive Director

We have selected the following items to provide to the House of Hope by individual donation:

4 Slice Toaster
Blender
10 Cup Rice Cooker
Set of Stainless Steel Mixing Bowls
2 Cookie Sheets
Large Electric Skillet
Large Electric Roaster
Iron

We have collected and delivered the above items, plus more to the River of Life Mission for the House of Hope. Thank you all that contributed.

Thank you so much for your quick and generous response to help meet the needs of the new Women and Children's Home. We appreciate your desire to bless this expanding ministry.
Please come to visit us when you are in Chinatown. We would love to give you a tour and have you meet some of the people in our current residential programs. God Bless You.

Reverend Paul Minchak
Resurrection of the Lord

Dear Rev. Minchak,

We are so privileged to be able to partner with you and the entire parish of Resurrection of the Lord, to provide for the women and children in need on Oahu. The River of Life Mission is merely a conduit or bridge between you and them. Your faithfulness does make a huge impact on the lives of the women and children at our House of Hope.

Thank you for the microwave, new pots, pans and steel mixing bowls. Also, the blender, iron and electric frying pan, electric grill, rice cooker and the many other items you donated. Your help has made a huge impact on the lives of those who serve the needy and poor as well as those in need.

There is a Bible verse that says: "For the poor will never cease to be in the land; therefore I command you, saying, you shall freely open your hand to your brother, to your needy and poor in your land." (Deuteronomy 15:11)

Clearly, you have opened your hand. You are the ones who provide the support for those who are without family or homes. Mahalo from the staff, the Guests, and the Mission's many volunteers.

God Bless You,

Bob Marchant
Executive Director

Where the Food Goes

The food that is collected and blessed during Mass goes to the food pantries at Sacred Hearts in Waianae and Our Lady of Good Counsel in Pearl City. It can also go to the food pantry at Blessed Damien Parish on Molokai. Thank you to all of you who continue to make this much needed weekly collection of food for those in need.

The items that are sent to the Blessed Damien Parish on Molokai, are sent through Hui O Laulima, which is part of the Social Ministry at Saint John Apostle and Evangelist Church in Mililani. They send a monthly container to Molokai full of items of need.
