If it wasn't for the unavoidable clues that were left, I would have never suspected something was being planned for the celebration of my 40th sacerdotal (priestly) anniversary. I must commend all of you for keeping it a secret. You did a great job. But most of all, I want to thank you for a well planned and enjoyable evening. Everything was done well and I personally enjoyed it - yes, even the roast. I know I am kind of a dull guy who has a daily and weekly routine, but I am truly fortunate to have all of you as part of my family. My seven plus years here have been a blessing in many ways, and you are the greatest blessing. When I had my second heart surgery a couple of years ago and wondered if the Lord was going to call me home, (when I left, walking five steps at a slow pace caused heavy breathing) and was well prepared if He did. I know your prayers helped me through that ordeal. When I awoke after the surgery many hours later - maybe it was days, I don't even know - my first thought was "oh, the Lord left me here", and I thanked Him and prayed for the many people praying for me.
A special thanks to all who planned it. Working on setting everything up, the entertainers, those who prepared the many dishes, the beautiful video, those who worked behind the scenes, who did shopping and everything involved. Thank you and God bless you.
